The Ultimate Destination Guide to Lake Como, Italy

We started a 6 week trip to Italy by making a 5 day stop in Lake Como. We decided to stop by Lake Como as we wanted a stop over to make our drive from Geneva, Switzerland to Florence, Italy easier. Lake Como turned out to be such an unexpected and gorgeous place that we wanted to share all of it with you.

In this post, we share our itinerary as well as how much we spent. If you plan to go to Northern Italy, you should REALLY consider making a stop in this beautiful region which is also where George Cloney has one of his secondary residences for the summer! We are definitely planning on coming back for a much longer stay next time, it has definitely won us over.

Destination Report: Costa Brava (Spain): What to do, see, eat and avoid

After a break from international travel due to the pandemic, we resumed our travel in May 2022 and got to explore some amazing locations again.

We started the year 2022 in Taiwan and decided to pick Costa Brava in Spain as our first travel destination. We wanted to go back after having an amazing experience during a short week stay in this region when visiting the town of Begur with friends in 2019. So without further ado, let’s go explore the Costa Brava and unveil in this two-part article what we did, ate, saw, and what we recommend people to avoid.

Destination Report: Taiwan – Life ‘Stuck’ in Taiwan during the pandemic (July edition)

What does life looks like ‘stuck’ in Taiwan during the pandemic? Strange but wonderful and we are very grateful for being currently in Taiwan during these unprecedented times.

In this post we are doing a recap of what we’ve done in July 2020 while most of the world is still battling with the coronavirus.

As you will see Taipei have been keeping us busy, offering us many sights and activities to practice. Are you ready to discover what Taipei has to offer during the pandemic?

Life ‘Stuck’ in Taiwan during the coronavirus pandemic (June’s edition)

What is life like ‘stuck’ in Taiwan during the coronavirus pandemic?

For the month of June, we went on a month-long journey of fast travel to explore the island of Taiwan for a total of 31 days and manage to spend less than $1,800 in doing so!

During this escapade, we based ourselves in three locations: Hualien (9 days), Kaohsiung (14 days) and Taichung (7 days) and checked out a lot of places as we will share in this post. Some of our favorites included the amazing Taroko National Park, the gorgeous sunrise and tea plantations and sunrise in Alishan, the beautiful islands of Tianjin, and Liuqiu, the bike ride in Chihsang and much more!

Life ‘Stuck’ in Taiwan during the coronavirus pandemic (May’s edition)

What is life like ‘stuck’ in Taiwan during the coronavirus pandemic? Strange but wonderful! It feels strange because while most of the world was on pause in May, Taiwan has been moving forward and operating as usual. We dine at restaurants, get on crowded subway rides, explore tourist sites, see students going to school and workers going to work. We feel guilty at times for leading such free lives after we completed our home self-quarantine. If we were back in the US or France, we would still be unable to move around freely and would be constantly worried about possibly spreading the virus to our loved ones so we are very grateful for the freedom we have in Taiwan. So for that, thank you Taiwan!

Life ‘Stuck’ in Taiwan during the coronavirus pandemic (April’s edition)

What is life like ‘stuck’ in Taiwan during the coronavirus pandemic? Strange but wonderful! It feels strange because while most of the world was on pause in April, Taiwan has been moving forward and operating as usual. We dine at restaurants, get on crowded subway rides, explore tourist sites, see students going to school and workers going to work. We feel guilty at times for leading such free lives after we completed our home self-quarantine. If we were back in the US or France, we would be unable to move around freely and would be constantly worried about possibly spreading the virus to our loved ones so we are very grateful for the freedom we have in Taiwan. Thank you Taiwan!

Destination Report: Lisbon – Part One: What to do, see, eat (& avoid)

After Porto, we spent the second half of our time in Portugal in Lisbon for almost a month. We decided to stay in this capital because we were curious to know more about this growing digital nomads hub that has become a trendy European destination over the past few years. The city actually reminded us a lot of San Francisco which we will talk more about in this blog post. Let’s go explore Lisbon!

Destination Report: Porto – Part One: What to do, eat, see (& avoid)

One of our favorite things about our nomadic lifestyle is that we can design it however we’d like based on our priorities. We can slow it down or speed it up, go to a food destination or a cultural city, spend time sightseeing or working on projects, meet up with friends or set out on our own, save money in Central America or splurge (within reason of course!) in the Caribbean. One of the biggest advantages to us is the ability to spend long periods of time with family and friends that live in different parts of the world. Since my family lives in France, I didn’t get a chance to see them very much during my 10 years in the US. Now we plan on spending 1-2 months every year with them and focus on great quality time versus the quick holiday catch up I was used to do. This is what brought us to Europe this summer!

Today we are fast forwarding a bit to our first slow travel destination of our 2nd year of long term travel: Portugal. (June was spent in France with family and was all over the place. Early July was spent with friends in beautiful Costa Brava Spain and we well talk about both at a later time). Given how popular Portugal is among expats, digital nomads and retirees, we were looking forward to see what the hype was all about! We decided to spend about 2 months in Portugal, spending our time between Porto and Lisbon. Porto was our first stop and we ended up with pretty mixed feeling about this city. Let’s see why by exploring Porto!
